Wonder Woman 2 Set to Premiere on November 1, 2019

Wonder Woman 2 Set to Premiere on November 1, 2019 (aceshowbiz)

JAKARTA, NETRALNEWS.COM - Wonder Woman 2 movie will be released earlier than the original date of December 13, 2019 to November 1, 2019. With a new release date, the movie has no competitors other than Bond 25 which will premiere at the same week.

Patty Jenkins will still direct the sequel to Wonder Woman, and Gal Gadot will reprise her role as the main character.

Initially, Warner Bros scheduled to release the sequel on December, but when Luacsfilm changed their Star Wars: Episode IX launching from May 2019 to the holiday season, Warner Bros. and DC Films changed their dates as a way to avoid competition.

As quoted from the Aceshowbiz page, although the critically acclaimed Wonder Woman is a huge success, it would not be a good business decision if the movie goes head-to-head with another Star Wars sequel.

Star Wars: Force Awakens earned $936 million domestically, and the upcoming Star Wars: The Last Jedi is expected to generate more than $200 million on its opening weekend.

In addition, there are also rumors that Fox and Marvel have set aside release plans on November 22, which will increase the competition for  Wonder Woman 2.

The ninth Star Wars movie be a major factor in the change of Wonder Woman 2’s release date. However, Marvel's success in the November release could be a consideration.

Thor: Ragnarok grossed $121 million domestically in the first three days, while Doctor Strange earned $232.6 million domestically last year. It can be concluded that the first weekend of November proved favorable for superhero movies. Therefore, Wonder Woman 2 must also find that success.

Nevertheless, Page Six's page reports that Israeli star Gal Gadot has threatened Warner Bros., stating that if Brett Ratner still co-finances Wonder Woman 2 in the future, she will not return for her role as Hippolyta's daughter.

However, it turns out the rumor is wrong. Gal Gadot has been locked to star in the sequel to Wonder Woman. There was no good news between the actress and the studio, and Ratner was not committed to pay for the film after Warner Bros ended their relation with Ratner.
