ALABAMA, NNC - Japanese global car manufacturer Honda will begin production of its new Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV). The All New Honda Passport 2019, which debuted at the Los Angeles Auto Show, will be assembled at the Alabama factory in the United States (US).

More than 1,500 employees at Honda Manufacturing of Alabama, LLC (HMA) celebrated the start of mass production of the new Honda Passport 2019 SUV.

Honda will start selling the new SUV model in early 2019. The All New Honda Passport is manufactured exclusively at HMA, and is deemed to play an important role in the Honda SUV line.

Unlike other Honda SUVs, the Passport 2019 gets an increase in road driving capabilities and off-road adventures thanks to several features.

"Today, we celebrate the dedication of our Honda team in Alabama in providing this new, ready-to-adventure sport utility vehicle to our customers," said Mike Oatridge, Vice President of HMA, in a publication on Friday (07/12).

The All New Honda 2019 Passport was introduced last month at the 2018 Los Angeles Auto Show, and will fill the slot between the CR-V and the Honda Pilot three-row seat SUV.

Passport is produced in Alabama along with a range of Honda light trucks that won awards, including Pilot SUVs, Odyssey minivans and innovative Ridgeline pickup trucks.

HMA is a Honda light truck production facility that employs more than 4,500 employees. HMA has the ability to produce more than 340,000 vehicles and V6 engines annually.

Since its initial production on November 14, 2001, HMA has produced more than 4.7 million vehicles and engines.
