TEHERAN, IRAN, NETRALNEWS.COM - The Iranian official television has reported that Iranian President Hassan Rouhani on Tuesday (11/14/2017) visited Kermanshah Province in western Iran to check the damage and rescue operations in the area rocked by deadly earthquake on Sunday (11/12/2017) night.
Rouhani conveyed his condolences to the families of victims affected by a powerful earthquake that claimed hundreds of lives and injured thousands of people.
The 7.3 magnitude earthquake on the Richter Scale shook the border region between Iran and Iraq on Sunday (12/11/2017) night, resulting in widespread damage and claimed more than 400 lives.
The Iranian president said the government will make every effort to resolve the problem in the region soon, Press TV reported.
"The Israeli army, the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC), the Red Crescent and the Islamic Revolutionary Housing Foundation and the Ministry of Energy, Home Affairs, Health and Roads and Urban Development have all provide assistance to people in need," Rouhani said.
According to recent data, as many as 445 people have lost their lives and more than 7,000 others were injured in the quake. A total of 12,000 homes were also destroyed in the natural disaster.
Together with these officials, the Iranian people have also launched natural disaster response efforts and donated blood and prepared aid packages.
