JAKARTA, NETRALNEWS.COM – One of Indonesia's potential racers, Rio Haryanto, has received full support to compete in the Formula E race. The statement was delivered directly by Alejandro Agag, CEO of Formula E.
Agag said, Rio is a potential racer who can compete in the formula competition that uses electric-powered racing cars. The man who worked with Rio on the Addax team on GP2 in 2013 also considers Rio's presence in FE will further introduce the single-seater racing that has started since three years ago.
"We will try [to support Rio to Formula E] and try to make it come true, I think it will be very, very good for the championship," Agag said, as quoted by motorsport.com.
"Rio is a friendly person, a great driver, we want him to join. Moreover, the opportunity for that market [in Indonesia] is important for motorsport," he continued.
Agag's desire to bring Rio to Formula E has faced difficulty, because ten teams of participants who are in Formula E already have their racers of choice.
In early October, Rio had time to try out Formula E car at the Ricardo Tormo circuit in Valencia, Spain. Rio hopes he can return to the track after a year's absence.
The last time Rio competed in the prestigious race is the Formula 1 series which took place in Germany on July 31, 2016.
