ANKARA, NETRALNEWS.COM - More than 300 illegal migrants were being arrested by Turkish police, Sunday (15/10/2017), in the northern and eastern country.
According to state-run news agency of Anadolu, 206 illegal migrants, including 25 women and 18 small children were arrested from a bus in the Black Sea of Amasyar Province.
The bus carrying migrants was stopped by police while heading towards Istanbul from Agri Province in eastern Turkey.
The suspects were citizens of Afghanistan, Pakistan, Iran, Syria and Myanmar.
"In another operation in the eastern province of Elazig, police caught 97 illegal Pakistani and Afghan migrants at the bus terminal," the Xinhua reported, Monday (10/16/2017).
The migrants attempted to reach Istanbul from Van Province in the eastern Turkey.
As its known, Turkey and the European Union signed a refugee deal in March 2016, which aimed to discourage irregular migration through the Aegean Sea by taking stricter measures against human traffickers and improving the conditions of nearly 3 million Syrian refugees in Turkey.
