NEW YORK, NETRALNEWS.COM - Senior actresses Meryl Streep and Glenn Close are reportedly outraged at Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein as it was revealed that he has been sexually harrasing women in Hollywood for decades.
Weinsten himself has been fired from his own company after an exposé by The New York Times outted him recently.
Streep had once called Weinstein a "god" while receiving an Oscar award, but after the publication of the exposé, she condemned his behavior.
The behavior is inexcusable, but the abuse of power familiar," said Streep as quoted from the Antara page.
In addition, actress Glenn Close also claimed to have heard rumors about Weinstein's indecent behavior for a long time.
"Harvey was always polite to me, but now the rumors are getting stronger. I'm so angry and sad," Close said.
Weinstein is the figure behind the success of big movies like "The King's Speech" and "The Artist". He is known to often take advantages of young actresses who want to make it big in the film industry.
Some celebrities, including actresses Rose McGowan, Ashley Judd, and Mira Sorvino have accused Weinstein of promising work for young actresses in exchange for sex, forcing them to massage him and watched him naked.
The New York Times has contacted 40 entertainment industry players to comments on the results of their investigations, which was published last week and almost all of them refused to speak on record.
