California Forest Fire’s Victims Increased to 15

SAN FRANCISCO, NETRALNEWS.COM - The great fire burning forests in Southern California, United States (US) has yet to be extinguished. The death toll from this disaster also continues to grow to 15 people.

Confirmed casualties were found in several districts near San Francisco, Northern California, western part of the United States.

The Sonama County Sheriff's Office said Tuesday (10/10/2017) that all nine people were reported killed after two confirmed deaths were confirmed in the district, some 90 kilometers north of San Francisco.

The death toll also includes two in Napa County, three in Mendocino County and one in Yuba County.

"More than 200 people have been reported missing in Sonoma County, but 45 people have been found," local officials said.

A local TV station, KRON4, aired footage in which thousands of buildings, including business installations, hospitals and homes, were burned down by the fire.

"More than 3,000 people are still displaced in shelters when 17 hotspots have destroyed 465 square kilometers of land across California," Xinhua reported on Tuesday afternoon.

As previously reported, forest fires across the state have destroyed at least 2,000 buildings, officials from the California Emergency Services Office said in a briefing.
