Home Ministry on Dissolution of Small Albeit Well-Known Mass Organizations

JAKARTA, NETRALNEWS.COM - After Hizbut Tahrir Indonesia (HTI) was dissolved following the publication of the Government Regulation in Lieu of Law (Perppu) No.2 Year 2017, now five other community organizations (Ormas) will be dissolved by the government. This was after the government planned to dismantle five mass organizations after receiving reports from local communities.

The Minister of Home Affairs Tjahjo Kumolo said there are five mass organizations that will be dissolved because of against the ideology of Pancasila.

"Home Ministry [got] reports from the districts, that there are small organizations, but these small organizations are quite well-known," said Tjahjo Kumolo at Century Park Hotel, Senayan, South Jakarta, Saturday (8/12/2017).

He explained later the decision results of Home Ministry will be submitted to a number of related parties, who handle the dissolution, starting from the Prosecutor's office to community leaders.

"Results of the Home Ministry, well, we just submit, be it part of the Attorney, Police, to the Coordinating Ministries, to religious figures, community leaders, local customs," said Tjahjo.

Former Secretary General of PDI-P affirmed that the dissolution of mass organizations must be decided on the basis of strong allegations.

Because we decided these mass organizations deserve to be dissolved or not, it must have a strong portion, said Tjahjo.

The Minister of Home Affairs also pointed out that the Hizbut Tahrir Indonesia mass organization which has now been disbanded is after 10 years of supervision. Meanwhile related to five other small mass organizations, he claimed to have supervised them for two years, said Tjahjo Kumolo. (*)
