JAKARTA, NETRALNEWS.COM - A presenter and famous broadcaster who is now chosen as Indonesian Reading Ambassador Najwa Shihab is rumored to be appointed Social Minister to replace Khofifah Indar Parawansa who is touted to be a candidate for 2018 East Java Governor Election.
Related to the news, how is the response of the Commission VIII of the House of Representatives which is the partner of the Ministry of Social Affairs?
Vice Chairman of House's Commission VIII of Gerindra Party Faction Sodik Mudjahid frankly said that Najwa Shihab is less suitable as Minister of Social Affairs.
"One of the reasons is that Najwa is less populist to become a Social Minister. This is different from Khofifah Indar Parawansa [current Social Minister] who fits well as Social Minister," Sodik said in a discussion held in Cikini, Central Jakarta, Saturday (8/12/2017).
Gerindra Party politician assessed Nana, Najwa Shihab's familiar call, as a less populist figure.
"Social Minister takes care of the small people, so the factor of commitment to the people with populist style is very important," said Sodik.
He added Nana is more suitable to be Minister of Women Empowerment and Child Protection or Minister of Youth and Sports.
As reported earlier, Najwa has decided to resign from Metro TV, she was then rumored to replace Khofifah as Social Minister who will run for 2018 East Java Governor Election.
Nevertheless, Najwa has denied the issue by giving a press conference on the issue. The denial was confirmed when Nana was in Karang City, Kupang, East Nusa Tenggara, Friday (8/11). (*)
