Democratic Party Denies News on SBY Once Fired Prabowo

Deputy Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Democratic Party Agus Hermanto

JAKARTA, NETAR NEWS.COM - Deputy Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Democratic Party Agus Hermanto denied the news that said Gerindra Chairman Prabowo Subianto had been fired by the Democratic Party Chairman Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) when both were still in the military career. He said the relationship between SBY and Prabowo was very familiar since they were in the military.

"[I] don't think so. No, it is not like that and I see Mr SBY and Mr Prabowo's meeting was very close and there is no problem whatsoever. So there is no such thing [as problem]. So, those gave the news cannot be justified," Said Agus to reporters at the Nusantara III Building of Parliament Complex, Jakarta, Tuesday (8/1/2017).

"Obviously there is no such thing, as I recall and as far as I know there is no incident between firing and being fired. So I think the news is invalid," said Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Coordinator of Development and Industry, Agus Hermanto.

For information, recently researcher of SMRC survey institute Sirojudin Abbas talked about the issue of coalition between Gerindra and Democrats in the 2019 Presidential Election. According to him, Prabowo and SBY are highly unlikely to form a coalition due to historical factors.

"SBY was one of the generals who recommended that Prabowo be dismissed, how come SBY recommended or supported general whom he will fire," said Abbas in a discussion in Jakarta on Sunday (7/30). (*)
