JAKARTA, NETRALNEWS.COM - President Joko Widodo may visit the Arab Islamic American Summit on 21 May 2017, said the Foreign Ministry Spokesman, Arrmanatha Nasir. He said in Jakarta on Thursday (18/5/2017) that President Widodo recently received a special envoy from Saudi Arabia on the event.
Nasir said that Indonesia considers the meeting as important as this is the first time the US government will meet the governments of Islamic countries, to discuss matters of shared concerns, including radicalism and terrorism. He said that about fifty countries are invited.
Nasir said that Indonesia will share experiences in combating terrorism and radicalism by soft and hard power. He said that the meeting will also discuss foreign terrorist fighters (FTF) issues. (*)
