JAKARTA, NETRALNEWS.COM - Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) politician Masinton Pasaribu is concerned about the public response to Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Fahri Hamzah during a working visit to Manado, North Sulawesi, Saturday (05/13/2017).

"My concern is not because of Fahri Hamzah's ethnicity and religion which is different from me, it's not that. My sadness and concern is why there is a rejection of our fellow Indonesian in the territory of our Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia [NKRI]," Masinton told reporters in Jakarta Sunday (05/14).

According to the member of the House of Representatives Commission III, every citizen of Indonesia has pledged himself one homeland, one nation and one language, Indonesia.

"Now, why do we reduce our sense of brotherhood as fellow children of the Indonesian nation just because of the difference?" regretted Masinton Pasaribu.

Reported earlier, House Deputy Speaker Fahri Hamzah was obstructed by residents at Sam Ratulangi Airport, Saturday. Mass refused Fahri's arrival, they accused him of often throwing statements that are considered intolerant.

"We reject the arrival of Fahri Hamzah and anti-Pancasila and radical mass organizations to enter North Sulawesi. This is our spontaneous action to keep NKRI. Not because of religion or race. We want to protect our nation from people who want to interfere with our government," said Noldy, representative of Manado residents.

Meanwhile, the Governor of North Sulawesi, Olly Dondokambey who welcomed the arrival of Fahri Hamzah managed to meet the residents.

"I ask the residents to remain calm. Since then North Sulawesi is known as a region that upholds tolerance. Let's keep security and peace," said Olly along with Deputy Governor Steven Kandouw in VIP Room of Sam Ratulangi Airport of Manado, North Sulawesi. (*)
