JAKARTA, NETRALNEWS.COM - Rain accompanied by strong winds that occurred at around 14:00 pm on Friday (4/21) have caused trees to fall. As a result, dozens of motorcycles and seven cars were badly damaged by trees in the parking lot of a restaurant on Jalan Angkasa, Halim Perdanakusuma, East Jakarta.
Two fallen hibiscus trees were about 1.5 meters in diameter. The worst-hit vehicles suffered damage to the roof and glass.
Head of East Jakarta Fire Rescue and Fire Control, Gatot Sulaiman, explained that his office deployed 20 personnel to help dozens of casual workers from East Jakarta Sub-dept. Of Forest Service (PHL) to evacuate the fallen trees.
"We are assisting the Forestry Sub-dept. And PPSU officers, deploying 20 personnel with three chainsaws to evacuate the trees that hit the vehicle," he said.
The cars damaged by the fallen trees are Honda Mobilio B 1977 NOB, Daihatsu Xenia B 1323 UIP, Daihatsu Sirion B 1743 WOP, Toyota Avanza B 2201 TB, Daihatsu Terios B 1531 TW, Toyota Kijang Capsule B 1502 EMN, and Toyota Yaris B 1400 TIM .
