JAKARTA, NETRALNEWS.COM – The 2017 BRI Mekaki Marathon Championship in West Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara on April 30 will offer a different sensation than the previous championship. This year’s BRI Mekaki Marathon will go through a thick region with different cultures of Sasak and Bali.

"So far, what people know about West Lombok is Senggigi, even though there are other areas that have a potency like Sekotong (Pantai Mekaki), we also have a strong region of Sasak and Bali culture. Tourists visiting Lombok can feel a culture of Bali, but tourists visiting Bali cannot feel Lombok culture. This will be the benefit of participants, "said Regent of West Lombok, Fauzan Khalid in Jakarta on Friday (4/21).

According to him, BRI Mekaki Marathon 2017 is the first championship held in West Lombok. For that, as the local government, it will provide the best service possible to the participants. Hopefully, the same championship can be held in coming years and the target will be international level.

In the championship which will be followed by artists such as Chicco Jerikho City, Wulan Guritno, Fajar Alexa, and Lukman Sardi, among others, will be contested three categories of 5K, 10K, half marathon (21K) and marathon (42K). The start and finish will be done at Pantai Mekaki, Sekotong.

"Mekaki Beach is located directly on the border with Australia, so all participants will also be offered the beauty of West Lombok," said the man familiarly called Ozan.

In the championship which is fully supported by the Ministry of Tourism and Ministry of Youth and Sports (Kemenpora) this will also be used as media to develop sports-based tourism program (sport tourism).

"We have provided support such as Jakarta marathon and Borobudur marathon, and now we support Mekaki marathon, hopefully the future will be international level," said Assistant Deputy of Personal Market Segment Development at the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Raseno Arya.
