JAKARTA, NETRALNEWS - Secretary General of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Ego Syahrial has been summoned by the Indonesian Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) as a witness in a corruption case investigation.

Ego was summoned in an investigation into a corruption case related to the management of the termination of the PT Asmin Koalindo Tuhup (AKT) coal mining contract (PKT) contract in the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources.

"Today is scheduled for an examination of the Secretary General of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Ego Syahrial as a witness for the suspect Samin Tan (SMT)," KPK spokesman Febri Diansyah said in Jakarta on Tuesday (03/19/2019).

Samin Tan is the owner of the company PT Borneo Lumbung Energi and Metal (BLEM).

Besides Ego, the KPK also called on another witness on Tuesday for suspect Samin Tan, namely PT BLEM employee M. Iqbal Novansyah.

Previously, the KPK also summoned the Director General of Mineral and Coal at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Bambang Gatot Ariyono on Monday (3/18). However, Bambang did not fulfill the summons.

"There is no information on the reasons for the absence," Febri said in the KPK building, Jakarta, Monday (3/18).

The KPK on February 15, 2019 stipulated that Samin Tan was a suspected bribe of non-active DPR member Eni Maulani Saragih in the amount of IDR 5 billion.

The bribe was given so Eni would take part in terminating the contract for the coal mining concession agreement (PKP2B) at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources.

Case construction begins in October 2017 The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources terminated PT Asmin Koalindo Tuhup (AKT) coal mining agreement. Previously it was alleged that PT BLEM owned by Samin Tan had acquired PT AKT.

To resolve the issue of termination of the work agreement, Samin Tan allegedly requested the assistance of a number of parties, including members of the House of Representatives Commission VII from Golkar Party faction Eni Maulani Saragih regarding the issue of termination of 3rd Generation PKP2B in Central Kalimantan between PT AKT and the ESDM Ministry.

Eni Maulani Saragih as a member of the House of Representatives at the Energy Commission agreed to request Samin Tan's assistance and try to influence the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources including using a hearing forum with the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources. In this case the position of Eni as a member of the Working Committee (Panja) Minerga Commission VII of the Republic of Indonesia Parliament.

In the settlement, Eni allegedly asked Samin Tan for money for the husband's election in Temanggung Regency.

In June 2018, it was alleged that there had been a provision of money from suspect Samin Tan through Eni's staff and experts in the House twice, namely on June 1, 2018 as much as Rp. 4 billion and on June 22, 2018 as many as Rp1 billion.
