JAKARTA, NNC - The commissioner of the East Java General Election Commission (KPU) is known to have just been installed two months before the General Election which will take place on April 17, 2019.
This has become a dilemma because timing is very tight for the preparation process ahead of the election. Moreover, the 2019 elections are simultaneous elections namely presidential elections and legislative elections.
Regarding this issue, Head of KPU, Arif Budiman stated that later the East Java KPU commissioner must be able to adapt quickly and work systematically.
The statement was conveyed because the KPU did not pass administrative selection to those who had the titles Doctor and professor to become members of the East Java KPU commissioner.
"We prefer people who are still learning or do not understand about elections. We will choose figures who are able to work quickly after they are installed," Arief said on Wednesday (11/21/2018).
"In the scoring process, there are many criteria, one of which is the experience of being an election organizer."
Arief, who is also known as the former chairman of the East Java Election Commission, explained that KPI members must have strong mental endurance and be able to work under pressure.
"The commissioner will face many people so that there are those who agree or disagree and it requires sufficient strength and energy," Arief explained.
A number of participants regretted the scoring system used by the KPU commissioner selection team. The scoring system based on electoral experience was considered detrimental by applicants for the East Java KPI commissioner candidates for the 2019-2024 period who turned out to have no electoral background.
