Republican Party Maintains Control in the US Senate after Midterm Elections

Capitol Hill

WASHINGTON, NNC - The ruler of the United States Parliament (US), the Republican Party will maintain a majority of seats in the Senate through the 2018 midterm elections.

With 42 seats achieved, the Republican Party was declared the winner in the race for at least eight times now as the Democrat Party failed to reach its target to win a majority of seats in the Senate.

This failure was partly due to the large number of seats they had to defend, some of which were of states under the Republican control.

Quoting Xinhua, the red states won big in the 2016 elections, which made Donald Trump elected president of the United States.

With a new majority in the Senate, the Republican Party continues to have the power to affirm candidates for key government officials, including the Chair of the Supreme Court and cabinet members.
