JAKARTA, NNC - The Election Supervisory Body (ESB) stressed to the General Election Commission to immediately register permanent voter list abroad which is known to amount to around nine million people.
However, ESB member, Moch.Afifudin stated that the classic problem that occurs is that employers of Indonesian Migrant Workers tend to hold back the identities of their employees so that Indonesian citizens who work abroad cannot vote.
"(Migrant workers) passports and so on usually are kept by their employers," he said, Wednesday (10/10/2018).
On this issue, he said it is the responsibility of all institutions related to general elections, especially for the general election commission and ESB.
"Of course we strive to hold meetings in several countries for Indonesian citizens abroad to accommodate the final voter list to be able to vote," he explained.
