Polri Focus on Maintaining Situation Ahead of 2018 Asian Games

JAKARTA, NNC - National Police (Polri) Chief General Tito Karnavian said that ahead of the 2018 Asian Games in Indonesia, the Indonesian National Police will focus on maintaining security and public order situation.

"Some of the national agendas that will be the focus of the Polri in the future include the maintenance of situation post June 27 election, the implementation of the 2018 Asian Games in four provinces, and the IMF-World Bank Annual Meeting 2018 in Bali, and the stages of 2019 presidential election and legislative election," said Tito Karnavian, in his speech for the 72nd Bhayangkara Day commemoration, at Istora Senayan, Jakarta, Wednesday (7/11/2018).

Furthermore, the former Jakarta Metro Police Chief also affirmed the National Police along with all the components of government and society will work optimally to ensure the stability of internal security.

Previously, Police Deputy Chief Commissioner General Syafruddin said it had prepared 60 thousand combined personnel from Polri and military (TNI) to secure the implementation of the 2018 Asian Games.

"The security of Asian Games is done maximally, involving 60 thousand combined personnel of Polri and TNI deployed during the activity," said Syafruddin who is also Chairman of the Indonesian contingent of Asian Games.

The Asian Games will be held in Palembang and Jakarta on August 18-September 2, 2018.

Further Syafruddin said the entire contingent of the Asian Games will obtain the maximum safety.

"All participants are treated equally in security activities, from 46 countries that declare sending their contingents of the Asian Games are all treated with maximum security starting from arrival to the return to their respective countries," he said.
