PEKANBARU, NNC - A police officer died in the incident of terrorist attack that occurred in Riau Police Headquarters, Pekanbaru City, Wednesday (5/16/2018) morning.
Based on information, the member of the Police is named Ipda (Second Inspector) Auzar. Currently the victim's body was in Bhayangkara Hospital of Riau Police.
Meanwhile, another police officer suffered a stab wound. The policeman was named Kompol (Police Commissioner) Farid Abdullah, and is still undergoing medical treatment at Bhayangkara Hospital.
In addition, as reported by Antara, the information said four suspected terrorists also died. One of suspects had escaped but has been successfully arrested.
It also reported two journalists were injured in the terror attack attempt. Both electronic media journalists were wounded because of being hit by a terrorist car while preparing to cover the disclosure of a narcotics case.
Riau Police PR Division Head Adjunct Senior Commissioner Sunarto in one of the television media mentioned the police killed four suspected terrorists when the pursuit was being made.
So far, dozens of armed Police Mobile Brigade Corp (Brimob) personnel have been fully alert and combing Riau Police Headquarters area after the terrorist attack on Wednesday morning.
Police are also seen diverting traffic flow on Jalan Jenderal Sudirman and Jalan Gadjah Mada or around Police Headquarters building.
One unit of Toyota Avanza minibus used by two suspected terrorists which was trying to attack Riau Police Headquarters is still parked at the north entrance or Gadjah Mada Street.
The white minibus looks badly damaged on the front with wiper still active.
Riau Police Headquarters was attacked by suspected terrorists who drove Toyota Avanza minibus by trying to break in and crash into police officers who are on guard.
The incident occurred at around 9 am, when Riau Police Chief Inspector General Nandang was going to give the press release on drug case disclosure.
