Jokowi: If Terrorism Bill is No Passed, I‘ll Issue Replacement Law

JAKARTA, NNC -- President Joko Widodo asked the House of Representatives (DPR) to finalize the revision of the Bill on Criminal Acts of Terrorism by June 2018. Jokowi also expressed his ultimatum of issuing a Replacement Rule of Law (Perppu) if the Terrorism Bill is not passed.

"The DPR and related ministries related to the revision of the Bill on Criminal Acts of Terrorism, which we also filed in February 2016, have been working for two years. This needs to be finalized as soon as possible, in the coming June. This is an important legal umbrella for the Police to take firm action in the prevention of terrorism and in its presecution," said Jokowi, as broadcasted by KompasTV, Monday (5/14/2018).

So far at least as many as six terror bombs have occurred in Surabaya and Sidoarjo. On Sunday (5/13/2018), bomb explosions rocked three churches, Wonocolo Flats in Sidoarjo and in front of Surabaya’s Resort Police Station this morning (5/14).
