BANJARNEGARA, NNC - Aftershocks that shook Kalibening Sub-district, Banjarnegara Regency, Central Java, tend to decrease.
Head of Geophysics Station Geophysics Agency (BMKG) Banjarnegara, Setyoajie Prayoedhie, said based on observations, aftershocks tend to show a downward trend, both in terms of strength and intensity.
Nevertheless, he said that on Monday (4/23/2018), aftershocks again shook Kalibening Sub-district at 19:54 WIB. The earthquake measuring 3.0 Richter Scale was located at 7.19 south latitude and 109.71 east longitude or 26 kilometers north of Banjarnegara with a depth of one kilometer.
"The earthquake was felt in Kertosari Village, Kalibening Sub-district, I SIG (BMKG Earthquake Intensity Scale) or I-II MMI (Modified Mercalli Intensity). Based on the information we received, there was no public panic during the quake,” Setyoajie said Tuesday (4/24).
Setyoajie further said the team from BMKG Post located in Sidakangen Village held a socialization of disaster mitigation in Plorengan Village, Kalibening Sub-district, on Monday (4/23), at 17.00 WIB, on request from local residents.
He hopes that with this activity, people can be more calm and understand what to do before, during, and after a disaster, especially earthquake. "With the socialization, we hope disaster risk can be reduced," said Setyoajie.
