KPK Deemed Not Serious in Dealing with Bank Century Case

Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK).

JAKARTA, NNC -  Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) is considered not serious in investigating Bank Century alleged corruption case. In fact Bank Century case is a criminal crime involving banking crime, economic crime, and general crime.

This was said by the former Special Committee (Pansus) of Bank Century Inquiry, Ahmad Yani. According to Yani, Bank Century case is not as complicated as other criminal cases.

"Concerning [Bank] Century, the investigation of the case is not as complicated as Jessica's cyanide coffee case," said Yani during a discussion of Bank Century scandal at Century Park Hotel, Jakarta, Monday (4/16/2018).

According to him, Bank Century case is a bright case to be investigated thoroughly.

"Many cases are dormant in the KPK, and [Bank] Century is a bright case. But it's not completed for five years," Yani said.

Previously, at the pretrial hearing held on April 9, 2018, South Jakarta District Court Judge granted the Indonesian Anti-Corruption Community (MAKI) lawsuit to the KPK.

In the verdict, the judge requested the KPK to follow up the Bank Century case.

The thing that MAKI sued was the KPK's protracted stance on the Bank Century case and never set a new suspect after Budi Mulya was convicted. The KPK is also deemed to have terminated the investigation on the Bank Century bailout case unlawfully.

In the verdict, the judge requested the KPK to immediately appoint former Vice President Boediono, Muliaman D Hadad, and Raden Pardede as suspects.
