Floods Surround Jakarta, 1,500 Satpol PP Personnel Standby Tonight

JAKARTA, NNC - A total of 1,500 personnel of Public Order Agency (Satpol PP) of Jakarta will be alerted throughout the capital region tonight, to help flood-hit people.

"We'll alert 1,500 personnel across Jakarta, ready to serve the community if needed. Here we divide into two shifts, the afternoon shift has 2,000 people," said Head of Satpol PP of Jakarta, Yani Wahyu Purwoko, while reviewing the floods that occurred in Gang Arus, Cawang, East Jakarta, on Monday (2/5/2018).

Yani continued, the agency also has provided rubber boats to evacuate residents who still stay on site. In addition, two members of Satpol PP are set to maintain 145 pumping houses spread in Jakarta.

Meanwhile, concerning the problem of flooding in Gang Arus, Yani mentioned the water level reaches 175 cm. Therefore, he has appealed to residents to immediately evacuate. A total of 50 members of Satpol PP are also mobilized to assist the evacuation.

"The condition of RW 2 and 3 residents still survive on the 2nd floor. We still warn them to immediately evacuate. Our rubber boats are three and one from fire fighter. Here, currently water level is almost 175 centimeters. We are ready for 24 hours to help the people," Yani said.
