KPK to Reschedule the Questioning of Setya Novanto Early Next Week

JAKARTA, NETRALNEWS.COM - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) to reschedule the questioning of Setya Novanto, the suspect of alleged corruption case of the electroninc ID cards (e-KTP) project in 2011-2012 at the Ministry of Home Affairs.

"Early  next week we will reschedule Setya Novanto's questioning as a suspect," KPK spokesman Febri Diansyah said Wednesday (9/13/2017) in Jakarta.

However, Febri has not been able to further explain the exact time of the Setya Novanto’s questioning.

"I have to make sure the exact time first with the team that handles, but we will announce the details about the questioning schedule," he said.

The Commission appealed to Setya Novanto to attend the questioning, he added.

"Of course we expect him to be healthy so he can provide informations," Diansyah said.

Setya Novanto for the first time scheduled on Monday (9/11/2017) to be questioned by KPK as a suspect in alleged e-KTP graft case, but not present due to illness.

KPK has appointed the House Speaker Setya Novanto as the suspect of alleged e-KTP graft case at the Ministry of Home Affairs on July 17, 2017.

The Commission determined Setya Novanto as a suspect for allegedly benefit himself or others or a corporation misusing authority, opportunity or means which is there because of his position so that it is allegedly to cause state losses of at least IDR2.3 trillion of the procurement package value of around IDR5,9 trillion in procurement package of e-KTP at the Ministry of Home Affairs.

Novanto is suspected of violating Article 2 paragraph (1) of Article 3 of Law no. 31 of 1999 as amended by Law no. 20 of 2001 on Corruption Eradication jo Article 55 paragraph (1) to 1 Criminal Code.

The article regulates the person who violates the law, misuses the authority, opportunity or facilities in which the position may be detrimental to the state's finances and economy and enriches himself, another person or corporation with a maximum imprisonment of 20 years and a maximum fine of IDR1 billion .

Setya Novanto has also filed a pretrial petition in the South Jakarta District Court.

The preliminary hearing of Novanto is scheduled on Tuesday (9/12/2017), was postponed and rescheduled on Wednesday (9/20/2017).
