Banyuwangi Ethno Carnival Reinforces Banyuwangi as World Class Tourist Destination

BANYUWANGI, NNC - The organization of Banyuwangi Ethno Carnival (BEC) 2018 further strengthens Banyuwangi as a world-class tourist destination. By involving 100 Banyuwangi artists who performed on 11 stages with 10 different themes, the 2.5 km cultural carnival route was successfully filled with tens of thousands of domestic and foreign visitors on Sunday (7/29).

Tourism Minister Arief Yahya who is also the Son of Banyuwangi expressed his joy towards the positive public response at this BEC 2018 event.

"Banyuwangi is really showing the best works. We are very excited that this year's BEC is very lively. Seeing the public response to the BEC, Banyuwangi is indeed a promising destination," said Minister Arief, in a press release on Monday (07/30).

The Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan who attended the BEC 2018 expressed his compliment at the event. "BEC is a big event. Efforts to develop this event to be a greater one need to be done because currently the progress of tourism is very good. In 2017, tourism contributed USD12.5 billion worth of foreign exchange proceeds. We are very impressed with all the potential that exists in Banyuwangi. Culture here is very strong, this is a great attraction," said Luhut.

BEC 2018 venue runs from Blambangan Park Square to Diponegoro Stadium with catwalk sporting the theme "Puter Kayun", a local tradition. BEC 2018 began with musical performances of a duet by Fitri Carlina and Danang of D'Academy Asia. In the parade, a colossal costume was shown depicting the richness nature and culture of Banyuwangi.
