JAKARTA, NNC - Indonesia Tourism Minister Arief Yahya has welcomed the hosting of the 2018 Batam Menari event in Batam. The Batam Menari event is a spectacular event, in which a total of 21,000 people performed the rendition of Rampai Batam in a colossal manner. The event also surpassed the national and world record for the number of simultaneous people dancing in one event.
Rampai Batam dance is the work of national artist Guruh Soekarno Putra. There are four ethnic elements presented in the dance, namely Malay, Minang, Batak, and Chinese elements. Each of the elements were strung together into a beautiful dance choreography. The grand dance event reflected harmony and unity in the life of the people of Batam.
"The event, organized by BP Batam (Batam Indonesia Free Zone Authority), was excellent, and tens of thousands of people gathered together in Batam to dance together," said Asman Abnur, Minister of Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform when opening the 2018 Batam Menari event in Batam, on Sunday (04/08) night.
Lukita Dinarsyah Tuwo, Head of BP Batam, said: "This is an event by the people of Batam for Batam. The local public have volunteered to show Batam as a fun city for tourism and residence, and show that we can live together despite coming from multiethnic backgrounds," he said on Monday (04/09).
In addition, the harmony shown in this event waspraised by the Minister of Tourism. Arief also did not forget to thank the Indonesia Ministry of Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform, as well as BP Batam in helping to spread tourism from the border area.
Moreover, Arief added that the organizing of this event was festive party of the people, while at the same time promoting Batam's tourism and economy.
