JAKARTA, NETRALNEWS.COM - Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Luhut Panjaitan is chairing an Indonesian delegation in a bilateral meeting with Singapore's Minister of Trade and Industry. S. Iswaran on Saturday (8/12/2017). This meeting is a preparation for the implementation of the Singapore-Indonesia Leaders' Retreat as part of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
"I hope that the Leaders' Retreat next month brings benefits and tangible results," said Coordinating Minister Luhut.
One of the issues underlined at the meeting was cooperation in the face of the digital economy era. "It is hoped that there will be collaboration in some activities such as investment and investment training, digital economy, regional growth and development," the Minister said.
"I think it is important for us to equate the voice and signal to the world that ASEAN has not only succeeded in recovering from the financial crisis of 1997-1998, but also in fact focusing its goals on [global] economic activity," said Iswaran to Indonesia to collaborate in the face of the changing world economy that is dominated by internet and online commerce (in-line network).
As it is known, diplomatic relations between Indonesia and Singapore has been built since 1967 ago. During the 50 years of the Diplomatic Relations between Indonesia and Singapore, there are several cooperative activities that have been and will be done among others Rising 50 BYOC Coding Competition in May 2017 in Batam, Rising 50 Fashion which showcased the fashion products of both countries in August 2017 in Jakarta and September 2017 in Singapore, Interfaith Dialogue in July 2017 in Singapore, Business Forum to be held on September 7, 2017 in Singapore that will be attended by President Joko Widodo, and Indonesia Investment Week on 6-8 September 2017.
