JAKARTA, NETRALNEWS.COM - Bank Indonesia (BI) said the government has a good policy in facing Ramadan related to the supply of basic commodities. Moreover, the availability of staple foods has so far been fulfilled and is able to stabilize the inflation rate.
BI Governor Agus Martowardojo said the inflation rate in the second week of this month was in the range of 0.5 percent, then year on year inflation was 4.17 percent. This, said Agus, is certainly better than the achievement in the same period in 2016 that amounted to 4.33 percent.
"We see that inflation control is done well, especially [with] adequate supply," said Agus at the office of the Ministry of Finance, Jakarta, Monday (6/19/2017).
According to him, based on the inflation survey, there has not been any concern about inflation, although there are plans of increase in fuel price in July and base electricity tariffs on the 900 VA group.
"We see now inflation is in line with our target of four plus minus one percent. Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr inflation is our challenge to achieve inflation target," he said. (*)
