JAKARTA, NETRALNEWS.COM - Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Darmin Nasution urged the tax officials in the implementation of Government Regulation in Lieu of Law (Perppu) No. 1 of 2017 on the Automatic Exchange of Information (AEOI), not to cheat by leaking any data about the customer.
If that happens, the ministry will firmly crack down on the officer. The threat is the criminal law. The reason is to keep the customer's data is a procedure that is applicable in the provisions of government regulation in lieu of law.
"According to the General Tax Law, it has been mentioned that there is a regulation stipulating that the tax officer must keep the customer's data confidential. If there is any cheating or violation, there will be punishment of his crime," he said in Jakarta on Friday (05/19/2017).
In fact, he further said, the Directorate General of Taxation can be prosecuted with the threat contained in the Law. This is a balancing that not only the person will be affected, but also the institution. "It's for balance only. He can be threatened in the General Tax Law," he said.
Meanwhile, Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani Indrawati, said that in the future, in order to obtain information, procedures and protocols will be strictly regulated in the Minister of Finance Regulation (PMK) which is derived from the Perppu. So the purpose of obtaining information is not misused.
MOF also ensured that the information system or exchange of information obtained must follow international protocols to conform to the applicable provisions and the same as those that have already implemented. (*)
