JAKARTA, NETRALNEWS.COM - Head of Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) Thomas Lembong is scheduled to be a key speaker and meet with investors and potential investors from China in Manado International Conference on Tourism or Invest Manado on May 23-24, 2017.
In the event, BKPM will cooperate with PricewaterhouseCoopers and Broadway Malyan. This activity aims to follow up the visit of President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo who attended the One Belt One Road (OBOR) Summit on May 14-15, 2017.
On the occasion, President Widodo also held a bilateral meeting with President Xi Jin Ping and agreed to increase investment cooperation between Indonesia and China. Thomas said that Invest Manado's activities were conducted to get a bigger investment portion from China.
"In accordance with President Joko Widodo's direction, the concept of OBOR is in line with the President's vision of making Indonesia a maritime axis of the world. This can be used to attract investments from China," he said in an official statement in Jakarta, Friday (05/19/2017).
According to him, opening direct flights from a number of cities in China such as Shenzhen, Shanghai and Guangzhou to Manado has a positive impact in increasing the number of Chinese tourists visiting Manado.
"This condition is ideally followed by the development of tourism facilities in Manado. Investments from the tourism sector such as hotels and other supporting infrastructure can be done," he said. (*)
