JAKARTA, NETRALNEWS.COM – In the effort to boost the usage of new renewable energy, state-owned power company Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) has signed 37 MoUs and 2 PPAs with new renewable energy developers.

The signing was done at the Central Office of PLN, and witnessed by PLN Director of Regional Business for Sumatera, Amir Rosidin, on Friday (05/19/2017).

The new renewable energy generation projects are targeted to be completed within the next 18-24 months.

The signing is one of the efforts to accelerate the electrification ratio by enabling unoccupied villages as well as pursuing the target utilization of new renewable energy for power generation.

Amir said that with the issuance of Minister of Energy Decree No.12 of 2017 on Utilization of New Renewable Energy Source for Electricity Supply, and Minister of Energy Decree No.1404 of 2017 on the amount of PLN Production Cost (BPP), it is the right momentum for PLN, because in addition to powering the nation through new renewable energy, it can also lower production costs.

"Minister of Energy Decree No. 12 of 2017 is welcomed by the developers, this can be seen from the many developers involved in the signing of the MoU today" said Amir.

Currently, the EBT generator in Sumatera Region has reached 1506 MW or 18% of total installed generating capacity and it is expected that by 2025 the percentage of EBT utilization can reach 23% target. The planned capacity to be built is 283 MW.
