Garuda to open new route Pekanbaru-Medan in January 2019

PEKANBARU, NNC - Garuda Indonesia airline Pekanbaru City Branch Office will open a new flight route destinations Pekanbaru-Medan and vice versa to improve service.

"Its scheduled to kick off on January 12 2019," Marketing Communication Garuda Indonesia Pekanbaru Eko Baseptriadi said in Pekanbaru on Monday, Dec 17.

Eko Baseptriadi says the presence of the new route is expected to be able to boost tourist visits to North Sumatra and Riau.

"This is one of the steps taken by Garuda Indonesia to boost tourist visits and increase business and economic potential of these two most densely populated flights in Sumatra," Eko said.

Its also part of Garuda Indonesia's commitment to support government programs to improve connectivity between islands and cities.

"Especially in promoting national tourism," Eko said.

Flights to Pekanbaru-Medan is scheduled to be available every Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.

"For the flight schedules, the plane departs from Sultan Syarif Kasim II Airport to Kuala Namu every 8 p.m. (Western Indonesian Time) with an ETA of 9:10 p.m. (Western Indonesian Time).

Flights from Kuala Namu Airport will depart at 6:15 p.m. (Western Indonesian Time) and is expected to arrive at Sultan Syarif Kasim II Airport at 7:20 p.m. (Western Indonesian Time).

Previously, Garuda Indonesia reportedly opened a new route destinations Pekanbaru-Batam on November 3 2018 and claimed that the passenger occupancy rate reached 84 percent.
