Indonesia Livestock Export Surges 194 Percent in 2018

LOMBOK, NNC - Based on data from the Central Statistics Agency/Statistics Indonesia (BPS) and the Center for Data and Information at the Ministry of Agriculture, export volume of the livestock sub-sector in 2018 from January to September reaches 183,414 tons. This figure is equivalent to US$ 474,193,507.

Thus, export volume had increased by 52.99 percent. Export value also surged by 194 percent compared to the volume and value of exports in January-September 2017, which was 119,885 tons worth $161,171,933.

The livestock export performance was disclosed by I Ketut Diarmita, Director General of Animal Husbandry and Health at the Ministry of Agriculture during a national technical coordination meeting on Wednesday (05/12) at the Lombok Raya Hotel, West Nusa Tenggara.

Based on data from the export recommendations of the Directorate General of Animal Husbandry and Health, the achievements of livestock and livestock health exports in the last 3.5 years (2015-2018 in the first semester reached IDR32.13 trillion. The largest export contribution to the veterinary drug group, which reached IDR21.58 trillion and reached 87 destination countries. In addition, swine exports to Singapore stood at IDR3.05 trillion.

In addition, dairy products and derivates also generated export value of IDR2.99 trillion from 31 countries. The animal feed group from plants contributed IDR 3.34 trillion to 14 countries. Some other products such as non-food animal products, hatched chicken eggs, meat and processed products, animal feed, goat/sheep, Day of Chicken (DOC), and frozen livestock semen also contribute significantly to foreign exchange this year.
