MIANGAS, NETRALNEWS.COM - A Lion Air Group’s airline, Wings Air, opens inaugural flight to Miangas Island Airport, in Talaud Island Regency, by transit in Melonguane Airport, having been inaugurated by the President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo in mid October of last year.
"As of now we only serve the community once a week on Sundays to Miangas Island," said Operations Director of Wings Air Redi Irawan in Miangas, Sunday (3/12/2017).
If the need to use air transportation increases, the flight frequency to the outer island which borders with neighboring country, the Philippines, will be added two or three times a week.
In fact, he said, people who come from the outer island of the northernmost of Sulawesi Island could fly to Jakarta or other provinces within a day.
"[We] apologize but currently [it is] only serviced once a week. In the future we will increase the transportation frequency by more than once to help drive people’s economy," he said as quoted by Antara.
