BENGKULU UTARA, NNC - Minister of Villages, Development of Disadvantaged Areas, and Transmigration (Kemendes PDTT), Eko Putro Sandjojo made a working visit to North Bengkulu on Thursday (9/13/2018).
During his visit, the Minister also invited the business community to explore the potential in North Bengkulu.
"I came along with the delegation from the Ministry of Religion to also invite the business world to see first-hand the potential that can be explored in North Sumatra," said Minister Eko Putro Sandjojo after opening entrepreneurship and aquaculture training at the Technical Production Assessment and Application Center of the Kemendes PDTT in Bengkulu.
One of the business world offered by Eko Putro Sandjojo to North Bengkulu Regency is processed food products from Fiesta. According to him, Fiesta has been conducting coaching in South Kalimantan, Kediri, Jombang, Tulung Agung, and Lampung for the production of silver catfish.
Based on the report from Fiesta, one hectare can produce 150 tons of silver catfish production for eight months with an income value of between IDR3,000 - IDR5,000 per kilo.
"So, Fiesta will hold a joint activity with the community, namely silver catfish farming. God willing, if the production is large, the Fiesta will build its production processing plant in North Bengkulu as well," he said.
Meanwhile, North Bengkulu Regent, Mian said Fiesta immediately responded that the Regency Government would support silver catfish farming in North Bengkulu. Moreover, catfish have high economic value.
"The land will definitely be there. Later we will try the development of mature silver catfish with high selling value and is very profitable for farmers. Moreover, there will be a market. What is clear, we must develop silver catfish in North Bengkulu," he said.
