JAKARTA, NNC - PT Pertamina (Persero) through its subsidiary PT Pertagas Niaga (PTGN) began to supply Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) for PT Energi Sejahtera Mas (ESM), one of the Oleochemical industries in Lubuk Gaung District, Dumai City on Tuesday (8/28/2018).
PTGN’s President Director, Linda Sunarti said the LNG supply for ESM marks the first time that the industry in Dumai City uses LNG as a source of energy.
Linda explained, LNG supply is obtained from Filling Station in Arun, Lhokseumawe which is then delivered using LNG isotank trucks. Next when it arrives in Dumai, this LNG will be converted back into gas with a regasification process to produce gas energy with a volume of 1.2 MMSCF/day.
"ESM gas energy needs will then increase to 3.6 MMSCFD within the next two months," Linda said through her official statement on Wednesday (8/29).
To increase the utilization of LNG, PTGN uses isotanks to bridge gas energy needs for industries whose territory has not been reached by gas pipeline infrastructure. This step is carried out while waiting for the completion of the transmission pipeline construction built by PT Pertamina (Persero) which is targeted to be completed by the end of 2018.
Dumai City, Riau Province, according to Linda, is one of the cities with increasing industrial growth. The use of LNG will be more developed along with the development of industries in Dumai that require gas energy and provide cost efficiency benefits compared to before.
"In order to spur this development, we need a supply of energy sources that are certain, sustainable and environmentally friendly," he added.
As information, the use of LNG isotank by PTGN has also been previously carried out to meet industrial needs in North Sumatra, East Kalimantan and Ambon, as well as PLN power plants in Sambera PLTG, Kutai Kartanegara.
