JAKARTA, NNC - Social Minister Idrus Marham says the ministry will distribute IDR 6.06 billion in compensation to the heirs of 404 victims who died in the Lombok earthquake, West Nusa Tenggara.
"We will be giving IDR 15 million to each of the heirs. If there are 404 deaths, we will prepare IDR 6.06 billion," Minister Idrus said on the sidelines of the Gebyar Prestasi Keluarga Sejahtera Indonesia (Indonesian Prosperous Family Achievement) in Buperta Cibubur, Jakarta on Sunday 12.
According to a report from the Lombok Earthquake Task Force Commander, death tolls rose to 404.
Idrus says at the beginning of his visit, after the deadly Lombok quake occurring on Sunday evening, Aug 8. The Ministry had distributed compensation to the heirs of 94 dead victims who were discovered a day after the earthquake.
In addition to the compensations, the Social Ministry also distributed 12,000 packages of basic necessities, set up a public kitchen and distributed 1,300 tents for shelter while residents who were displaced due to lost homes.
On the other hand, in a cabinet meeting led by President Joko Widodo, it was previously decided that in case of emergency response, all the needs of the people must be fulfilled, including a place to stay, food, medicine and others.
Also with psychosocial assistance for trauma recovery is still being carried out by the Social Ministry and the Indonesian Child Protection Agency in collaboration with a number of universities.
"The most important thing is that all damaged homes will be rehabilitated again. The government has decided to provide a compensation of IDR 50 million for heavily damaged homes, IDR 20 million for medium-damaged and IDR 10 million for minor damaged," Idrus said citing Antara.
