JAKARTA, NNC - The luxury sleeper train owned by PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Indonesia Railways Company) or KAI reaches full route capacity during a market test operation on Tuesday (6/12) morning for Jakarta-Surabaya route.
President Director of PT KAI Edy Sukmoro in the release of the sleeper train at Gambir Station, Jakarta, on Tuesday assessed the public is interested in the train with more services, which is much comfortable, in which passengers can directly take a rest or go sleep.
"This train is provided to people who want to get a rest directly, as it belongs to long-distance train, so that until the destination [they] are refreshed and can work and have activities," he said on Tuesday.
He said for the official operation on June 12, 2018, only four trains will be run, that is within the KA Argo Anggrek (Train) of Gambir Station-Surabaya Pasar Turi Station round trip route.
Currently the price is still the promo price, at IDR900.000, but after one month it will apply the normal price.
"Normally it will be recalculated, which will definitely be a little higher than 'Priority' [trains], but the first is to test market if this is in demand," said Edi.
The train is domestically made by train manufacturer PT INKA which will make another by order if there are many requests.
Exclusive services similar to those in the business class on the plane can be enjoyed by users of the sleeper train cars during their journey, from the seat that can be reclined 170 degrees electrically, electric footrests, private entertainment in the form of 12-inch screen TV with headset, USB chargers, folding tables, cushions, blankets, trash cans, glass holders, compartments for storing footwear, magazines and clothes hangers and all available in individual seats.
In addition, users of luxury class service of sleeper train cars will also get free meal, drink and snack service. A sleeper train car will only consist of 18 passengers, thus making it more comfortable to passengers.
