President Jokowi Inaugurates Floating Terminal of Ahmad Yani Airport

JAKARTA, NNC - President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo after attending the inauguration of Entrepreneurship Program and Digitalization of Agricultural System, this morning at Integrated Rice Processing Center (SPBT) in Majasari Village, Sliyeg Sub-district, Indramayu Regency.

In the afternoon next, the President will continue the journey to the city of Semarang to inaugurate Ahmad Yani Airport.

"In the afternoon, President and First Lady Iriana Joko Widodo will continue the trip to Semarang City, Central Java Province, through West Java International Airport, Majalengka Regency," said Deputy of Protocol, Press and Media Secretariat of President Bey Machmudin through written statement received in Jakarta, Thursday (6/7/2018)

In Semarang, the President will inaugurate the new terminal of Ahmad Yani International Airport which is also the first floating airport in Indonesia. The development of airport in the Capital of Central Java Province is also included in the National Strategic Project Acceleration (PSN) Program as stipulated in Presidential Regulation No. 58 of 2017.

To note, Ahmad Yani Airport's new terminal has an area of 58,652 square meters or nearly nine times larger than the old terminal which is only 6,708 square meters.

Once completed, the new terminal will be able to accommodate seven million passengers per year or 19 thousand passengers per day whereas the old terminal capacity is only 800 thousand passengers per year.

In addition, the new terminal also features three units of avio bridge (Passenger Boarding Bridge) and 30 units of check-in counter to speed up service to airline passengers.

The new terminal apron reaches 72,522 square meters so it can accommodate 12 narrow body aircraft or the configuration of ten narrow body aircraft and two wide-body cargo aircraft.

"After the inauguration, the President and his entourage is planned to return to Jakarta in the afternoon by using the Presidential plane of Indonesia-1," said Bey.
