Four Airliners Express Interest in Using RAI’s R80 Aircraft

Ilham Akbar Habibie, Commissioner of RAI (icmi)

JAKARTA, NETRNEWS.COM - Ilham Akbar Habibie, Commissioner of national aircraft manufacturer Regio Aviasi Industri (RAI), says the R80 aircraft have been oversubscribed due to its good quality. Thus, the company is confident that this type of ATR aircraft will be flying in Indonesia’s skies soon.

The R80 being designed by RAI has been oversubscribed. Four national airliners in Indonesia have expressed interest in using the R80 aircraft

“The four interested airliners are Sriwijaya Air and their subsidiary NAM Air, Tigana Air, Trafo Asia, and Aviastar. The airlines in Indonesia that already use this type of ATR aircraft are Wings Air and Tigana Air,” Ilham said in Jakarta on Wednesday (10/11/2017).

He also conveyed that RAI have received orders in the hundreds of units from the four airliners, which certainly is a good development for the company. “We have received letters of interest from four companies for 155 units,” Ilham said.

Despite having received the attention of several national airliners, Ilham affirmed that RAI will not force all the airliners to use the R80.
