Minister Basuki: Trans Java Toll Road to be Connected by 2018

Minister of Public Works and People's Housing Basuki Hadimuljono

SEMARANG, NETRALNEWS.COM - The Trans Java toll road project is said to just need settlement, except for Salatiga-Solo toll road.

"As for the Trans Java toll road it is already clear, everything is under construction. Even, it just needs settlement, except for Salatiga-Solo," said Minister of Public Works and People's Housing Basuki Hadimuljono in Semarang on Thursday (9/14/2017).

Basuki is optimistic that the 661 km Trans Java toll road will be connected in 2018 so that access from Jakarta-Semarang-Surabaya will run smoothly.

"The Salatiga-Solo [segment] one is still in process and the rest just needs settlement. As for Trans Java, I am more confident in 2018, God willing, it is completed," he said.

As for the Trans Sumatera toll road, he said, it started from three points, that is, the south, from Bakauheni to Palembang which by 2018-2019 is expected to have been connected.

From the middle, he said, it started from Pekanbaru which has already begun the process, while Medan-Kualanamu stretching along 40 km is ready to be inaugurated.

Admittedly, the challenge in infrastructure development, including toll roads is the breadth of the territory of Indonesia, but it must be realized to connect access in relation to connectivity.

"To improve competitiveness, the key is connectivity, so the challenge must be faced, not to be considered as problem," he said.

Moreover, he said, society's expectation on infrastructure development is now higher so that the Ministry of Public Works responded with faster provision. (*)
